Odisha is experiencing mild relief from the recent cold wave as night temperatures begin to rise gradually after several days of intense chill across the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the severity of the cold conditions that persisted in many regions has weakened since Tuesday and is expected to ease further from Wednesday onward.
Temperature to Rise Over the Next Three Days
The IMD has forecast a gradual increase of 2–3°C in night temperatures across the state over the next three days. Despite this warming trend, people living in interior, northern, and southern districts may continue to feel cold during early mornings and late nights due to local weather patterns.
Phulbani Coldest at 8°C
In the past 24 hours, Phulbani recorded the state’s lowest temperature at 8°C. Rourkela also experienced relatively colder conditions driven by regional atmospheric influences. Although the overall cold wave is weakening, the mornings and evenings remain chilly in many areas.
Health & Safety Advisory
Meteorological officials and health experts have urged residents—especially children, senior citizens, and individuals with respiratory sensitivities—to avoid prolonged exposure to cold winds. People are advised to dress warmly and stay alert to seasonal illnesses as temperatures fluctuate.
With temperatures expected to rise moderately in the coming days, Odisha residents can anticipate gradual relief from the intense cold, though some locations may continue to register lower readings.
