A day after the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) suffered a heavy defeat in the Bihar assembly elections, party president Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya announced her resignation from politics — and dramatically declared she was distancing herself from her family.
Rohini Claims She Was Forced Out
In a surprising post on X (formerly Twitter), Rohini said her decision came after alleged pressure from Sanjay Yadav, an RJD Rajya Sabha MP, and Rameez, both known to be close to Tejashwi Yadav.
“I am quitting politics and I am disowning my family… This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do, and I am taking all the blame,” she wrote.
‘Thrown Out, Abused, Even Hit’ — Rohini at Patna Airport
Hours after her post, Rohini spoke to reporters at Patna airport before flying to Delhi. Visibly emotional, she accused senior party figures of sidelining and humiliating her.
“I don’t have a family. You should ask Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez. They are the ones who threw me out,” she said.
She further alleged:
“When you name Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, you are thrown out of the house, disgraced, abused, and even hit with a chappal.”
Who Are Sanjay Yadav and Rameez?

Sanjay Yadav is a Rajya Sabha MP and considered one of Tejashwi Yadav’s closest aides.

Rameez Alam is an old friend of Tejashwi and belongs to a political family in Uttar Pradesh.
Both men are believed to hold significant influence within Tejashwi’s circle.
A History of Clashes
This is not the first time Rohini has confronted senior members of the party.

Rohini is also known for donating one of her kidneys to her father, Lalu Prasad, in 2022 — an act that earned widespread admiration.

So far, neither Sanjay Yadav nor Rameez has responded to her allegations.
The RJD leadership has also maintained silence, leaving room for further speculation about deepening divisions within the party’s first family.
