The death toll in the Delhi Red Fort car blast has risen to 13, officials confirmed on Tuesday morning. Following the deadly explosion on Netaji Subhash Marg near the Red Fort metro station, the historic monument has been closed to visitors for the next three days.

Union home minister Amit Shah is expected to chair a high-level security meeting shortly, as investigators continue to probe the terror link under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also announced the temporary closure of Lal Quila Metro Station for the day as a precautionary measure.

LIVE UPDATES | Delhi Red Fort Blast 2025

11:04 AM – Hyundai i20 Parked for Two Hours Before Blast

Officials have confirmed that the white Hyundai i20 involved in the explosion had been parked for nearly two hours at the Sunehri Masjid parking lot, near Red Fort, before it exploded around 6:52 PM. The blast killed 13 people, including the car’s three occupants, and injured over 20 others.

10:57 AM – Death Toll Rises to 13

Authorities have updated the death toll from eight to thirteen as four more bodies were recovered from the wreckage. At least five victims remain unidentified, according to Delhi Police sources.

10:54 AM – Case Registered Under UAPA

The Delhi Police have officially registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Explosives Act, and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“The investigation will explore every possible angle — including terror links, accidental detonation, and external involvement,” said an officer from the Special Cell.

10:50 AM – Amit Shah Chairs Emergency Security Meeting

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level meeting today with top officials from Delhi Police, NIA, IB, and the Home Ministry. The meeting follows the confirmation of terror module involvement from Kashmir and Haryana.

10:38 AM – Two Men from Uttar Pradesh Among Victims

Two men from Amroha district in Uttar Pradesh, identified as Lokesh Agarwal and Ashok Kumar, were among those killed in the explosion. Lokesh, a fertilizer trader, was visiting Delhi to meet a hospitalized relative when the incident occurred.

10:31 AM – Driver Identified as Kashmir-Based Doctor

The driver of the car has been identified as Dr. Umar Un Nabi, a medical professional from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Police say Umar was linked to two other doctors recently arrested for their role in a Faridabad terror module.

CCTV footage reportedly shows Umar driving the i20 moments before the explosion, which occurred as the car slowed near a traffic signal at Chhata Rail Chowk.

10:17 AM – Police Link Blast to Faridabad Terror Module

According to Delhi Police’s Special Cell, the car used in the blast has been traced to a terror network operating between Kashmir and Haryana.
Raids earlier this week in Faridabad had led to the seizure of nearly 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate, and the arrest of two medical students with alleged links to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH).

Police sources said the same network may have supplied the explosives used in the Red Fort blast.

9:46 AM – Red Fort Closed for Visitors

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has announced the closure of Red Fort for three days as forensic experts continue evidence collection at the site.

9:25 AM – Global Condemnation and Security Alert

World leaders, including Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, have expressed condolences over the tragedy. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh have been placed on high alert, and security has been tightened across railway stations and metro lines.
