In a deeply alarming development, Adarsh Behera, a 36-year-old Indian national from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, has been kidnapped by Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) amid the country’s worsening civil war.
Behera, who had been working at Sukarati Plastic Factory in Al Fashir for the past three years to support his wife and two young sons, was abducted from the conflict-ridden city nearly 1,000 km from Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.
A video circulating online shows Behera seated between two RSF members, one of whom mockingly asks, “Do you know Shah Rukh Khan?” The footage has sparked widespread concern across India, prompting urgent appeals from Behera’s family to both the Odisha and central governments.
Sudan’s Ambassador to India, Mohammed Abdalla Ali Eltom, confirmed that diplomatic efforts are underway to ensure Behera’s safe return. “We pray that they keep him safe,” Eltom stated, describing the situation in Sudan as “very unpredictable.”
The Indian government is reportedly in close coordination with Sudanese authorities to expedite rescue operations. Meanwhile, Behera’s family remains hopeful, urging swift intervention to bring him home safely.
Deeply concerned to know that Adarsh Behera from Jagatsinghpur District of #Odisha has been kidnapped by paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan’s Al Fashir. Urge Indian Government and the Ministry of External Affairs (@MEAIndia) to intervene into the matter with urgency…
