In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, a youth conference was held at Rama Devi Women’s University on Sunday.

The event was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who interacted directly with students from Rama Devi Women’s University and other colleges.

During her interaction, Smt. Parida engaged in open discussions on crucial topics such as women empowerment, sexual violence, the role of women in politics, mental health, gender inequality, and the economic participation of women. She emphasized that women’s empowerment is not merely a slogan but a continuous process that will persist through generations. She highlighted the importance of self-confidence and decision-making freedom for the youth in strengthening women’s empowerment.

Smt. Parida also stressed the need to change societal attitudes towards women and underscored the significance of mental health in adapting to the evolving lifestyle. She advised young women to practice yoga and Pranayam for mental well-being.

Addressing questions related to gender, she assured that the government prioritizes women’s safety and announced the upcoming issuance of Visakha Guidelines in the state. She also inspired the girls to become mentally strong and learn self-defense skills, asserting that the true victim is not the one who suffers but the one who inflicts suffering.

The event was attended by Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Shubha Sharma, Departmental Director and Chairperson of the Social Welfare Board, Monisha Banerjee, the President of Rama Devi University, and many professors.
