Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will lead the Mahagathbandhan as its Chief Ministerial candidate in the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot announced the decision during a joint press conference in Patna, confirming unanimous support from all alliance partners.
The Mahagathbandhan, also known as the INDIA bloc, includes RJD, Congress, and several left parties. Alongside Tejashwi, VIP chief Mukesh Sahani has been named as one of the Deputy Chief Ministerial candidates. The alliance also proposed multiple Deputy CMs to ensure representation across regions and communities.
Speaking to the media, Tejashwi Yadav launched a sharp critique of the NDA government. He said, “Modi ji sets up factories in Gujarat but wants votes in Bihar. People are asking why Bihar remains poor despite 20 years of NDA rule.” He pledged to build industries, IT parks, SEZs, and revive sugar and jute mills to boost employment and development.
Tejashwi emphasized urgency and ambition. “If the people of Bihar give us just 20 months, we will accomplish what the current regime couldn’t in 20 years,” he said. He promised that no family in Bihar would be left without a government job under his leadership.
With this announcement, the Mahagathbandhan has positioned itself for a direct contest against the ruling NDA. The alliance aims to present a fresh vision for Bihar’s future, centered on economic growth, social justice, and inclusive governance.
