In a joint operation, the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Bihar Police shot dead four members of the Ranjan Pathak gang during an early-morning encounter in Rohini, Delhi, on Thursday.

The incident took place around 2:20 a.m., between Dr Ambedkar Chowk and Pansali Chowk on Bahadur Shah Marg.

Gang Members Identified

Police identified the deceased as Ranjan Pathak (25), Bimlesh Mahto alias Bimlesh Sahni (25), Manish Pathak (33), and Aman Thakur (21).

According to officials, Pathak, Mahto, and Manish Pathak were residents of Sitamarhi, Bihar, while Aman Thakur hailed from Karwal Nagar, Delhi.

All four were wanted in several criminal cases in Bihar, including multiple murders, armed robberies, and gang-related crimes.

They were also suspected of involvement in the killings of Brahmashri Sena district head Ganesh Sharma, Madan Sharma, and Aditya Singh.

Police Action Based on Specific Intelligence

According to sources, the operation was conducted following credible intelligence inputs that the gang members were planning a major criminal activity ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.

Police teams set up a trap in the Rohini area, and when officers attempted to intercept the suspects, the gang allegedly opened fire.

In retaliation, police returned fire, leading to a brief but intense exchange of bullets.
All four suspects sustained gunshot injuries.

Forensic Teams Begin Investigation

The injured men were rushed to a hospital in Rohini, where they were declared dead on arrival.

DCP Crime Branch Sanjeev Yadav confirmed that the operation was based on specific intelligence regarding the gang’s movement in Delhi.

Senior officials from both Delhi and Bihar Police visited the site later. Forensic experts and crime scene teams conducted detailed inspections and collected evidence for further examination.

According to police, several cases under the Arms Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) had been registered against the accused in Dumra, Chaurat, Gahra, and Purnahiya police stations.

The investigation is ongoing to uncover possible links to other criminal networks.
