A shocking discovery was made in Bolangir district on Sunday after skeletal remains were found inside a toilet of an abandoned section of the Bhainsa Primary Health Centre (PHC) under Patnagarh police limits.

The unusual find has prompted a police investigation to determine the origin and nature of the remains, which are suspected to be of a child.

Remains Found in Unused Hospital Building

According to initial reports, the skeletons were discovered in an old, unused urinal located on the former premises of the health centre.
Soon after the discovery, police and a forensic team arrived at the scene and collected samples for examination. Experts will verify whether the remains are human and, if so, their approximate age and cause of death.

A doctor associated with the health centre said the remains appear to be human, adding that forensic analysis will confirm the details.

Old Facility Left Neglected

The Bhainsa Primary Health Centre had shifted to a new building some time ago, leaving the old campus abandoned and unused for years. Locals say the structure had become dilapidated and largely neglected, with no maintenance or security in place.

Locals Report the Discovery

The incident came to light when local residents noticed the remains and immediately informed hospital authorities, who then alerted the police. Officers from Patnagarh police station have since launched a detailed investigation.

Probe to Determine Cause and Origin

The cause and time of death remain unknown. Locals have expressed concerns of possible foul play, urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.

Police officials confirmed that forensic reports will be crucial in identifying whether the remains belong to a child and how they ended up inside the abandoned toilet.
