In response to continuous rainfall caused by a low-pressure system, authorities at the Lower Indra Irrigation Project in Nuapada district have opened three gates to manage rising water levels.
According to departmental sources, gates 3, 6, and 8 were opened today to regulate water flow. The project is currently receiving an inflow of 450 cubic meters per second, while the outflow has reached 474.26 cubic meters per second. The reservoir now holds 264.5 meters of water.
Executive Engineer Soumya Kishore Jaypuria stated that additional gates will be opened if water levels continue to rise. The move is part of a precautionary measure to ensure safe water management and prevent overflow risks.
