A wave of anger and grief swept through Bhubaneswar’s Capital Hospital after a 14-month-old child died, allegedly due to a wrongly administered injection.

The incident triggered public outrage, leading to vandalism within the hospital premises.

According to police sources, the child was admitted late Sunday night with symptoms of cold and fever. Family members claim that a female doctor on duty administered the wrong medication, which worsened the child’s condition and led to his death shortly after.

Following the tragedy, a crowd of agitated locals gathered at the hospital, accusing staff of negligence. Despite police efforts to calm the situation, the crowd reportedly damaged hospital property in protest.

Hospital authorities have denied the allegations, stating that the child was brought in a critical condition and all possible medical interventions were provided. They emphasized that the child’s deteriorating health was the primary cause of death, not medical error.

Police have launched a full investigation into the incident. If negligence is proven, appropriate action will be taken. The deceased child was reportedly the son of an online auto-rickshaw driver.
