Actor Vijay Deverakonda announced that he will no longer support ticket price hikes for his upcoming releases, provided the decision remains within his control.
Speaking at a pre-release event for his period action drama Ranabaali, the actor pledged to keep ticket prices accessible for audiences, stating the only exception to this policy would be if he collaborates with director S.S. Rajamouli.
Addressing concerns regarding graphic content, Deverakonda clarified that the filmmakers intentionally toned down violent sequences in Ranabaali. He emphasised that the film aims to present historical reality rather than glorify violence, asking audiences not to compare it with recent releases criticised for excessive gore.
Set in 19th-century South India, Ranabaali follows a warrior leading a guerrilla resistance against colonial British oppression alongside his wife Jayamma, played by Rashmika Mandanna. The film, which features Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo as the primary antagonist, is scheduled for theatrical release on Oct 16, 2026.
Beyond Ranabaali, Deverakonda’s future slate includes the action drama Rowdy Janardhana, co-starring Keerthy Suresh, as well as an untitled romantic action project with Hi Nanna director Shouryuv.
