The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow weather warning for 30 districts in Odisha, after a low-pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal.
The system is expected to move northwestward, bringing widespread rainfall and affecting southern Odisha and nearby regions.
According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is likely in Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts, with gusty winds of 30–40 km/h and possible thunderstorms. Additionally, a separate yellow warning for thunderstorms and lightning has been issued for 24 districts.
The sea is likely to remain rough on Sunday, and fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea.
Meanwhile, the IMD said that monsoon withdrawal is imminent, with weather conditions turning favorable for its retreat from parts of western Rajasthan starting September 15.
