On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi issued a heartfelt appeal to citizens, especially the youth, emphasizing that suicide is not a solution but a reflection of fragile mental health.
He announced the launch of a statewide campaign titled “Jeevan Zindabad,” aimed at raising awareness and preventing suicides through collective action and emotional support.

“Life is a divine gift and must be cherished,” Majhi stated in his social media post, urging everyone to pledge to overcome challenges, love life, and work together to build a society that supports mental well-being. He stressed that no problem is without a solution and assured that the government stands firmly with every individual facing personal or emotional distress.

The campaign will be rolled out across all districts of Odisha, involving government departments, educational institutions, and civil society. Citizens are encouraged to report cases of harassment or blackmail, with authorities promising strict action. Majhi called for the day to be more than a ceremonial observance, urging people to make a renewed commitment to life, joy, and resilience.
The “Jeevan Zindabad” initiative is expected to include awareness walks, cultural programs, and motivational sessions, reinforcing the message that every life matters and help is always available.
