The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record prize pool of $13.88 million for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

This marks a staggering 297% increase from the $3.5 million awarded during the 2022 edition in New Zealand.

The prize money not only sets a new benchmark for women’s cricket but also exceeds the $10 million awarded in the 2023 Men’s World Cup. The winning team in 2025 will receive $4.48 million, while the runner-up will earn $2.24 million. Losing semifinalists will each take home $1.12 million, a significant jump from the previous $300,000.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah hailed the announcement as a defining milestone, stating, “This four-fold increase in prize money is a landmark moment and reflects our clear commitment to the sport’s long-term growth. Our message is simple: women cricketers must know they will be treated on par with men if they choose this sport professionally.”

The decision has been widely praised by players, fans, and sports bodies, positioning the 2025 Women’s World Cup as a turning point in the global cricketing landscape.
