Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli has made a remarkable return to the top five of the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, following his stellar performance against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 match held in Dubai.
Kohli’s match-winning century not only led India to victory but also saw him rise from the sixth to the fifth position in the rankings.
In a closely contested match, Kohli’s unbeaten 100 off 111 deliveries helped India chase down Pakistan’s target of 242, demonstrating his prowess against spin bowling. This performance silenced his critics and showcased his return to form.
Meanwhile, India’s Shubman Gill continues to dominate the rankings, solidifying his position as the number one ODI batter with an impressive 817 points. Gill extended his lead over Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who currently holds the second spot with 757 points. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, with 757 points as well, secured the third position, making it three Indian players in the top five.
South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen and India’s Virat Kohli round out the top five, both with 743 points. Additionally, India’s Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul also feature prominently in the rankings, holding the ninth and fifteenth positions, respectively.
India’s success in the Champions Trophy continues, as the team has already secured a spot in the semi-finals before their last league game against New Zealand on March 2. With Gill, Kohli, and Sharma in top form, India remains a formidable contender for the title.
