The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially ended its association with Dream11, following the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025 in Parliament.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the development, making it clear that the board “will not indulge with any such organisations in future.”
Why the Partnership Ended
Dream11 had a 2023–2026 sponsorship deal worth USD 44 million (approx. Rs 358 crore) as the title sponsor of Team India’s jerseys.
Fantasy gaming platforms, including Dream11 and My11Circle, jointly contributed nearly Rs 1,000 crore to BCCI through sponsorships of the Indian cricket team and IPL.
However, the new law prohibits any entity from offering, aiding, or promoting online money gaming services or advertising them, effectively cutting off the revenue stream of fantasy sports companies.
Dream11’s Response
In a statement after the Bill’s passage, Dream11 said:
“We have always been a law-abiding company and have conducted our business in compliance with the law. While we believe that progressive law would have been the way forward, we will respect the law and fully comply with the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025.”
Wider Impact
The decision will not only affect BCCI’s sponsorship pool but is also expected to hit individual cricketers’ endorsement deals with such fantasy gaming companies.
With this development, BCCI will now seek new title sponsors for Team India’s kit ahead of its upcoming international fixtures.
