Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav announced that the Government of India has issued a Gazette Notification extending privileges and immunities to the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), its representatives, and officials under the United Nations (Privileges and Immunities) Act, 1947.
Calling it a “significant step,” Yadav said the move underlines India’s strong commitment to global cooperation in big cat conservation. He stressed that protecting big cats is crucial not only for their survival but also for safeguarding ecosystems and the planet’s well-being.
With these privileges, IBCA is now empowered to operate effectively as a global platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in wildlife conservation.
