A man allegedly hacked his wife to death and slit his own throat. The incident took place under Lalbag Police Station limits in Cuttack City on Wednesday.
The accused has been identified as Biswajit, while the deceased woman, identified as Bishnupriya Mallick (30), was a constable at the Cyber Police Station in Cuttack, the police said.
According to reports, Biswajit and Bishnupriya got married in 2019 and were blessed with a daughter. The family had been living in a rented house in Siddheshwar Sahi, Cuttack, for the past three years.
Preliminary investigations reveal that there was discord in the relationship between the couple, the police said adding the man hacked his wife to death and attempted to end his life by slitting his own throat with a sharp weapon.
However, the neighbours rushed to the scene, rescued him, and admitted him to SCB Medical and Hospital in Cuttack in critical condition.
