The Housing & Urban Development Department has issued a draft notification proposing the establishment of 12 new Notified Area Councils (NACs) across various districts in the state. This significant move is set to enhance local governance and urban development in the region.
The proposed NACs include Pallahara and Birmaharajpur in Angul and Subarnapur districts, respectively. Balasore will see the addition of Simulia, Basta, and Betnoti, while Mayurbhanj will gain Bangiriposi and Chitrada. Rayagada is slated to host Bissam Cuttack, and Sambalpur will include Bamra and Rengali. Lastly, Bhadrak will welcome Tihidi and Dhusuri.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to decentralising administrative functions and improving urban infrastructure.
