Bhubaneswar: In view of rising cases of COVID-19 infection in the state capital, the number of beds in hospitals are being increased in a phased manner, said BMC Commissioner Prem Chand Chaudhary.
The BMC commissioner clarified that there are no scarcity of bed in the city hospitals and enough beds are available in each category. The 1929 helpline number is being used to fill the beds and many patients have also been admitted for treatment through RRT.
A few days ago, a technical error occurred on the 1929 helpline, which led to disruption of the helpline service for some time. But, now all the errors have been rectified, the BMC Commissioner said adding that the residents of Bhubaneswar will be able to avail the 1929 helpline number service.
Chaudhary further clarified that the closure of Swargadwar in Puri will increase the burden in Bhubaneswar. Chaudhary said that the crematorium at Satyanagar is fully functional and two more crematoriums will come up in the city soon.
When asked about COVID-19 case detection and measure to contain them by the civic body, Chaudhary informed that some apartments where Covid-19 cases have increased were sealed. Besides, slum surveillance and conducting tests of symptomatic persons is underway, he added.
