The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has placed all airports in India on maximum alert following intelligence inputs of potential threats from terrorists or other anti-social elements between September 22 and October 2, 2025.

The advisory, issued on August 4, directs enhanced security at airports, airstrips, helipads, flying schools, and training institutes. Security personnel have been told to maintain round-the-clock vigilance, intensify patrolling at terminals, parking areas, and perimeters, and coordinate closely with local police forces.

Aircraft operators have been instructed to tighten screening of all cargo and mail—domestic and international—before loading. Staff identity verification, strict access control, and continuous CCTV monitoring have been made mandatory.

BCAS has also ordered regular announcements urging passengers to report suspicious activities or unattended baggage. Emergency response drills are to be reviewed and activated immediately.

Regional BCAS directors will convene urgent meetings to ensure compliance, while airport authorities are tasked with coordinating closely with CISF, the Intelligence Bureau, and other security agencies to prevent any unlawful interference with civil aviation
