Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo participated in the Virgin Land Security Summit 2025, held at the India International Centre in New Delhi.

India has over 60 million hectares of barren or underutilised land, with around 20 million hectares ideal for organic farming. With global demand for organic products soaring, this presents a golden opportunity for our farmers to lead the way in sustainable agriculture.

Deputy CM Singh Deo stated that Odisha is at the forefront of this movement. Through the Balabhadra Jaivik Chasa Mission, the state has begun transforming its pristine tribal regions into organic clusters. Nearly 32% of our cultivable land already utilises minimal chemicals. We are now scaling up initiatives with the “One District – One Organic Cluster” program, along with agro-processing units for mango, turmeric, millets, and ginger. Additionally, we are establishing export-oriented agri-parks, creating organic value chains linked with self-help groups (SHGs) and farmers’ producer organisations (FPOs), promoting millet-based enterprises, and developing eco-farming hubs.

Deputy CM Singh Deo also emphasised that Odisha is well-prepared with land, strong policies, and support systems, including subsidies for land, power, and water, capital incentives, and expedited clearances to enable investors and innovators to thrive. He extended an invitation to global partners and agripreneurs to come to Odisha—a place where nature meets enterprise and tradition meets innovation— and to be part of this transformation. A Norwegian agripreneur praised Odisha’s eco-agriculture sector.

Other attendees included Deepak Kumar Rath, Editor of Uday India, along with policymakers, agri-business leaders, farmer organisations, land reform experts, and development agencies.
