Odisha has been honoured with the prestigious National Award as Emerging State in Organ Donation, recognising its significant strides in organ donation and transplantation.

Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilisers, Jagat Prakash Nadda, presented the award during a special event at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, organised by the National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organisation (NOTTO), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

Congratulating the people of Odisha, Nadda commended the state’s proactive approach, stating that Odisha’s “commitment and contribution are commendable and have helped in giving new life to patients suffering from end-stage organ failure diseases.”

The award was received by Prof (Dr) Umakanta Satapathy, Additional Director of Medical Education and Training, and Dr Bubhuti Bhusan Nayak, Professor in-charge of the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO), who represented Odisha on this milestone occasion.

The felicitation marks Odisha’s continuing journey toward establishing itself as a front-runner in health infrastructure, medical innovation, and public commitment to organ donation.
