The mortal remains of six Odia workers who lost their lives in a tragic blast at a stone quarry in Andhra Pradesh have arrived in Digapahandi, Ganjam.
A three-member team from the Ganjam district administration coordinated the return of the deceased, ensuring respectful handling and support for the bereaved families.
The victims have been identified as Danda Badatya, Banamal Chera, Bhaskar Bisoi, Santosh Gouda, Takun Dalai, and Musa Jan. Among the deceased, four were from Ganjam district, while the other two were from Gajapati.
The workers tragically lost their lives in a massive rock collapse at the Satyakrishna Granite Mine near Ballikurava in Bapatla district. The incident also left ten other labourers critically injured.
Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, has announced immediate financial assistance of Rs. 4 lakh each from the CM’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to the nearest kin of the deceased.
Local officials have offered condolences and assured assistance to the victims’ families. Authorities are expected to initiate further inquiries into safety lapses at the blast site.
