The mortal remains of the minor girl from Balanga in Puri district, who died while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi, are expected to arrive in Odisha late Sunday night.
The girl, who had sustained severe burn injuries under distressing circumstances, succumbed on Saturday despite weeks of medical efforts. A post-mortem examination is currently being carried out at AIIMS, after which the body will be handed over to her family for transportation to her native village.
According to the State Government’s Residential Commissioner in New Delhi, arrangements are underway to shift the mortal remains to Odisha. “The body will be sent between 8.00 and 9.00 PM today,” the official confirmed.
Back in her village, grief hangs heavy as the family prepares for her final rites. Choosing not to cast blame, they expressed their deep sorrow and urged that the incident not be politicised.
“We do not wish to blame anyone. Our daughter was not destined to live with us,” a family member said in a tearful statement. “We trust the government and the doctors. This is not the time for politics.”
Earlier, the victim’s statement had been recorded for the third time at AIIMS, New Delhi, as part of the investigation into the case. The Odisha government has maintained that it provided all possible support, including shifting her to Delhi for advanced treatment.
