Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar, have inducted 53 Student Traffic Volunteers to aid in traffic regulation under the Smart City framework to foster civic responsibility and community engagement.
The initiative, executed under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr. S.Dev Datta Shing IPS and the leadership of Addl CP Sri Narashingha Bhol IPS, DCP Traffic Tapan Mohanty (SAG), and Addl.DCP Sri Ankit Verma IPS is aimed at supplementing traffic enforcement efforts and instilling road safety awareness among youth.
These student volunteers will work alongside traffic officials to promote discipline, ensure smoother vehicular flow, and uphold a zero-tolerance policy on traffic violations. The strategic involvement of students is part of a broader vision to build inclusive civic engagement and create a culture of responsibility and safety on urban roads.
Speaking on the occasion, senior officials emphasised that this initiative not only augments operational capacity but also empowers young citizens to actively contribute to public welfare. The volunteers have undergone orientation and will be deployed at key traffic intersections across Bhubaneswar.
