The Malgodown Police Station, in coordination with the Special Squad of Commissionerate Police, apprehended six hardcore criminals and seized a cache of firearms and ammunition believed to be part of an inter-state racket originating from Bihar.
Acting on credible intelligence received on the evening of July 25, a swift raid was conducted by the team led by ACP Zone I, Arun Swain.
The operation at Jobra Matia Mangala Chowk resulted in the arrest of veteran criminal Kadua @ Debadatta Singh Behera (26), and the recovery of one 7.65 mm pistol and five live rounds.
During interrogation, Debadatta revealed that he had procured six firearms from Bihar, five of which had already been sold to local miscreants. The weapons were reportedly intended for various anti-social activities.
Following this revelation, the police apprehended five more suspects:
- Raja @ Piyush Reddy (20) of Jobra Malhasahi
- Nanda @ Bijay Rao (36) of Jobra Nadukula Sahi
- Happy @ Jyoti Ranjan Naik (23) of Jobra Nuasahi
- Tapu @ Tapan Sethy (20) of Jobra Talasahi
- Bidu @ Badrinath Behera (22) of Jobra Nuasahi
All six accused were arrested on July 26 and will be produced before the Court. A personal search of the accused led to the recovery of five pistols, 13 live rounds, a Suzuki Burgman Scooty (OD-05-CB-5009), and three mobile handsets.
