The 16-year-old girl from Balanga, Odisha, is fighting for her life at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi after being set on fire on July 19, 2025. The minor, who sustained 75% burns, was airlifted to AIIMS following emergency treatment and underwent critical burns and plastic surgery on July 20.

According to an official press release from AIIMS on Day 5, the girl underwent surgery for the management of deep burns and remains in critical condition, supported by oxygen, with a dedicated team of doctors closely monitoring her progress.

Earlier today, Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, and Nimapara MLA, Smt Pravati Parida, visited AIIMS to discuss the survivor’s condition with the medical team. Speaking to the media, she expressed optimism about the survivor’s improving health and assured that the government is fully committed to her treatment.

“No effort will be spared in ensuring the best care. Medicines unavailable at AIIMS are being sourced externally,” Parida stated. She added that doctors have raised concerns about the risk of infection, and if all goes well, the survivor may require 50 to 60 days to fully recover.

Parida expressed hope, stating, “With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, we are confident that she will recover fully.” The government’s proactive involvement and the medical team’s dedication continue to provide hope for the survivor’s recovery.

Also, Former School & Mass Education Minister & Nimapara Ex-MLA, Samir Ranjan Dash, shared a heartfelt update from AIIMS Delhi, where he stood by the victim’s family, and prayed to Lord Jagannath for her swift return to health.
