The 15-year-old girl from Puri Balanga was airlifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, following an attack by miscreants that left her with 75% burns.
The patient, whose condition is described as critical, is currently receiving intensive care in the Burns and Plastic Surgery block ICU at AIIMS. She is on oxygen support, and a dedicated team of doctors is closely monitoring her health.
AIIMS New Delhi highlighted the gravity of the situation and the ongoing efforts to stabilise her condition.
The burn victim was initially treated at AIIMS Bhubaneswar before being airlifted to the capital for advanced medical attention.

According to reports, three motorcycle-borne youths allegedly doused her with a flammable substance and set her ablaze near Bhargavi River on Saturday. Local residents rescued her, but her condition deteriorated, necessitating specialised care.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed anguish and assured top treatment, while protests erupted outside Balanga police station, with BJD leaders demanding swift arrests. The opposition slammed the state’s law and order, citing recent communal violence in Balasore.
Medical experts highlight that burns over 50% of the body require urgent fluid resuscitation and potential skin grafting, a race against time for survival. Police are interrogating suspects, with the victim’s ICU statement to a magistrate serving as key evidence.
As the community prays for her recovery, this case has ignited debates on safety and justice in Odisha.
