A heartfelt letter written by the father of the FM College victim to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) has surfaced, revealing that the victim’s family had anticipated psychological distress stemming from harassment at the institution.

The letter, addressed to the ICC Committee Chairperson on July 7, underscores the father’s urgent warnings about Samir Sahu’s behaviour towards his daughter. He pleaded for timely intervention, fearing that the mental toll might lead her to take an extreme step. “My daughter is resilient,” he wrote, “but this situation is exceeding her tolerance.”

He raised concerns on why, despite having multiple faculty members, repeated allegations were surfacing against the same individual. The father cautioned that if harassment continued, it could disrupt her education or lead to self-harm.

UGC officials have now launched a full-scale inquiry, visiting the FM College campus and holding discussions with staff and students. They plan to collect statements from the victim’s family before submitting a detailed report to the authorities in Delhi.

The letter also raises a poignant question: “After this complaint, will my daughter’s education face disruption?” A question that echoes the anxieties of many families grappling with institutional indifference.

The incident has reignited conversations around campus safety, the efficacy of ICC protocols, and the pressing need for mental health safeguards within educational institutions.
