Bomb Threats Sent to Over 20 Delhi Schools; Security Agencies Launch Sweeping Search Operations

More than 20 schools across the national capital received bomb threat emails on Friday morning, prompting a large-scale emergency response by law enforcement agencies. Bomb disposal squads and search teams were immediately deployed to the affected schools, officials confirmed.

According to police sources, St. Xavier’s School (Civil Lines), Richmond Global School (Paschim Vihar), Abhinav Public School (Rohini), and The Sovereign School (Rohini) were among the institutions that received threatening messages. Details of other affected schools are still being verified.

This marks the third consecutive day of such incidents, raising serious concerns about school safety and the psychological toll on students and parents.

Earlier this week, St. Stephen’s College and St. Thomas School in Dwarka were also targeted. The email to St. Stephen’s, received at around 7:15 AM on Tuesday, claimed multiple IEDs and RDX packs were planted on campus, threatening detonation by 2:00 PM. The threat triggered a full campus evacuation and a thorough sweep by bomb disposal teams. All such threats have since been declared hoaxes by the authorities.

On Monday, three schools also received similar messages, later determined to be false alarms.

On Wednesday, investigators traced one of the hoax threats to a 12-year-old boy from South Delhi, who reportedly used his personal mobile phone to send the email as a prank. Police stated the student is undergoing mental health treatment and has been sent home after counselling.

In a sharp political response, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi criticized the BJP-led administration, saying:

“More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents and teachers are going through. BJP controls all four engines of governance in Delhi, yet cannot ensure safety for our children. Shocking!”

Authorities continue to investigate the source and motive behind the coordinated threats.
