Air India announced a reduction in its international flight operations and a temporary suspension of select overseas routes between June and August this year.
The airline said the move aims to optimise operations amid airspace restrictions and rising jet fuel prices.
The carrier will suspend services on the Delhi–Chicago, Mumbai–New York, Delhi–Shanghai, and Chennai–Singapore routes, along with two additional international sectors. The decision follows a detailed review of operational viability and cost efficiency across long-haul destinations.
Air India stated that the rationalisation plan will help maintain schedule reliability and ensure better resource utilisation during the summer travel period. The airline continues to operate other major routes to Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia without disruption.
Officials emphasised that the temporary suspension does not affect domestic connectivity or short-haul international flights. The airline will resume affected routes once conditions stabilise and fuel prices ease.
