The Odisha government has issued a clear directive to ration cardholders who haven’t completed the mandatory e-KYC verification.
Food Supply Minister Krushna Chandra Patra revealed that over 20.58 lakh individuals have failed to meet the requirement, prompting the suspension of rice supply to affected households.
Beneficiaries are granted a three-month grace period, during which their cards will remain temporarily suspended. If e-KYC is not completed within this timeframe, the cards will be permanently deactivated.
The government reassures that once e-KYC is completed, rice distribution will resume for suspended beneficiaries. In districts with poor connectivity, network infrastructure has been enhanced to facilitate smooth verification.
In a policy update, children aged five and above are now eligible to be listed on ration cards, broadening household benefits under the PDS system.
This initiative aims to streamline beneficiary records and ensure resources reach the intended population. Cardholders are strongly advised to complete their e-KYC promptly to avoid disruption.
