CS Convenes Emergency Meeting with Key Departments

In response to the distressing case involving a female student from FM College, Balasore, Odisha’s Chief Secretary convened an urgent high-level meeting with the Secretaries of three key departments—Women and Child Development, Higher Education, and Health.

The officials discussed departmental findings and strategies moving forward, with Police DGP also attending subsequent deliberations.

Meanwhile, the Congress party intensified its demand for an impartial judicial or CBI probe. Senior Congress leader Srikant Jena alleged that the student had informed district authorities, including the SP, MP, and local MLA, but no action was taken. “We will seek an appointment with the President for a formal appeal. If denied, we’ll submit a written memorandum,” Jena stated.

The Crime Branch’s CAW & CW wing team visited FM College for the second consecutive day, continuing interviews with staff and officials. The investigating team, led by DSP and Additional SP, is examining sensitive leads tied to the case.

In a medical update, AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director Dilip Parida informed that the student’s condition remains critical. “She is under specialised care and in touch with experts from AIIMS Delhi. Her vitals fluctuate and antibiotic support continues,” he said, highlighting the next 72 hours as vital to her recovery.

As the incident draws national attention, the demand for justice and transparency continues to grow, underscoring larger concerns around student safety, administrative accountability, and institutional action.
