Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated the “Sabari Bhavan” at IRC Village, Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar, established by the Sabari Cultural Society.

The centre, envisioned as more than just a shelter for tribal communities, aims to be a hub for leadership development, cultural resurgence, and youth empowerment.

On this occasion, the CM announced a Rs 2 crore grant for the centre’s infrastructural and functional development. He emphasised that the Bhavan would provide all necessary facilities, becoming a foundation for short-term lodging, skill-building, education, and cultural exchange for tribal youth, especially from Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Malkangiri districts.

“Sabari Bhavan will be a symbol of Odia pride and an inspiration for future generations. It reflects our commitment to uplift tribal communities while preserving their rich cultural identity,” stated CM Majhi.

He further declared that initiatives like the Tribal Heritage Centre and Tribal Language Institute would soon be established in Bhubaneswar. Highlighting Odisha’s 40% SC/ST population, the CM revealed a historic Rs 68,881 crore provision specifically allocated for their welfare.

Echoing this commitment, Mass Education Minister and Sabari Cultural Council President Nityananda Gond lauded the government’s support, noting that the council received funding through a Rs 200 crore task force for southern Odisha’s development.

The CM’s long-term vision, titled “36 for 36”, outlines 36 action plans to achieve holistic development and tribal empowerment by 2036, contributing to a prosperous and inclusive Odisha.

Present during the event were MPs Munna Khan and Balabhadra Majhi, former ministers Ramesh Chandra Majhi and Arabinda Dhali, legislators from across southern Odisha, and various cultural leaders and council members.
