The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested six individuals, including three doctors, in a major crackdown on a bribery scandal involving the manipulation of medical college inspection reports.

The operation targeted officials and intermediaries linked to Shri Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences & Research in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, who allegedly facilitated favourable inspection outcomes in exchange for illegal gratification.

The CBI acted on intelligence revealing that office-bearers of the institute were colluding with designated assessors to secure positive reports for medical college recognition. The agency set up a sting operation, apprehending the accused during a bribe transaction. The arrested individuals, including the doctors and intermediaries, are set to face trial and will be produced before competent courts in their respective jurisdictions.

Searches are underway at over 40 locations across Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh to uncover further evidence of the corruption network.

The CBI has identified various tactics used by the accused to manipulate the statutory inspection process, highlighting systemic issues in the oversight of medical institutions.

This scandal raises serious concerns about the integrity of medical education in India, as fraudulent inspection reports could compromise the quality of training for future healthcare professionals.

The ongoing investigation aims to dismantle the network of corruption and hold all involved parties accountable.

As the CBI continues its probe, the case underscores the need for stricter oversight and transparency in the accreditation process for medical colleges. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
