Army Foils Major JeM Infiltration Bid in Rajouri; Pakistani Guide Captured

In a significant counter-infiltration success, the Indian Army has thwarted a major infiltration attempt by heavily armed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gambhir area of Rajouri district, Jammu & Kashmir.

The operation resulted in the capture of a Pakistani national, who was acting as a guide for the terrorist group.

The individual has been identified as Mohammad Arib Ahmed (22), son of Mohammad Yousuf, hailing from Detote in the Nikiyal area of Kotli district, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He was apprehended by alert Indian troops in the Bhimber Gali sector on Sunday.

According to Defence officials, specific intelligence input about a planned infiltration led the Army, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), to initiate a well-coordinated counter-infiltration operation. The vigilant troops detected movement of four to five armed terrorists attempting to exploit the rugged terrain and thick foliage for illegal entry.

While the guide was caught, the remaining infiltrators are suspected to be JeM cadres who sustained injuries during the exchange and were forced to retreat back across the LoC under adverse weather and terrain cover.

A search operation following the action led to the recovery of sensitive materials, including Pakistani currency and a mobile phone. During initial interrogation, Arib Ahmed confessed that he was operating under instructions from Pakistan Army officers stationed at forward posts near the LoC.

The Army hailed the operation as a swift and effective response that prevented a possible terror strike in the hinterland and disrupted Pakistan-backed infiltration attempts.

The situation along the LoC remains tense but under firm control of Indian security forces.
