In a devastating road accident early Friday morning, six Maha Kumbh devotees lost their lives after the car they were travelling in went out of control and collided with a parked truck in Bihar’s Bhojpur district.
The incident took place around 3:17 am near the Dulhinganj petrol pump in Jagdishpur.
Upon receiving the information, the Jagdishpur police team, led by Sub-Inspector Aftab Khan, promptly arrived at the scene and retrieved the bodies. The deceased were sent for postmortem. Preliminary investigations revealed that the car was travelling at high speed when it rammed into the truck parked at Ara Mohania. The tragic accident resulted in the deaths of six passengers within minutes.
The deceased have been identified as Sanjay Kumar (62), Karuna Devi (58), Lal Babu Singh (25), Priya Kumar (20), Asha Kiran (28), and Juhi Rani (25). All the victims were members of the same family and were returning from the Maha Kumbh. A family member later reached the accident site to identify the victims.
An employee of the nearby petrol pump reported that the severity of the accident was evident as they reached the spot within five minutes, only to find no survivors. Locals speculated that the car driver, suspected to have fallen asleep, lost control of the vehicle, causing the collision. The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. The impact was so severe that parts of the car were scattered around the area, with one wheel found lying 20 feet away.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are searching for the driver.
