In a shocking late-night accident in Bhubaneswar, Capital Police Station Inspector Daya Nayak was critically injured after being struck by a car allegedly driven by an inebriated individual.

The incident occurred near Baramunda when Inspector Nayak was returning home on his two-wheeler. Preliminary reports state that a speeding car, driven under the influence of alcohol, rammed into his scooter from behind. The impact was so severe that Nayak sustained serious head and bodily injuries.

Local residents rushed to the scene and immediately shifted him to the Capital Hospital. Later, due to the seriousness of his condition, he was transferred to a private healthcare facility for advanced treatment.

Police sources confirm that Nayak’s condition remains critical but slightly improved.

The accused driver has been detained, and the vehicle involved in the crash has been seized from the site. Authorities are investigating the incident and are expected to take stringent legal action.

This accident once again raises urgent concerns regarding drunk driving, road safety, and enforcement in the capital city.
