Bhubaneswar: In view of the COVID-19 surge situation in other states, the Odisha government has decided to conduct 7,300 RT-PCR tests per day, informed Health Minister Naba Kishore Das.
The Odisha health minister informed that Special Secretary Dr Ajit Kumar Mohanty has been entrusted with the task of monitoring the situation. He said people coming from other states will undergo mandatory tests.
The Collectors and Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) of all district have been issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in this regard, he added.
Health Minister Naba Das further informed that the RMRC has been asked to conduct sero survey in Sambalpur, Rourkela, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri. Besides, RT-PCR testing labs will be set up in Deogarh and Nayagarh districts at the earliest, he said.
The Health Minister further stated that the Odisha State Medical Corporation (OSMCL) has been asked to purchase all the necessary kits for stepping up COVID-19 tests.
