As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for a brief visit to Canada, members of the Indian diaspora in Calgary and Alberta have expressed happiness and optimism about the future of India-Canada relations.
Speaking to ANI, community member Nidhi Lodha said:
“We’re very happy that PM Modi is visiting us. The only regret is that it’s a short-notice visit, so we couldn’t organize a town hall where more people could meet him. Still, we believe his visit will mark the beginning of a new chapter in India-Canada ties.”
She also highlighted the changing political climate in Ottawa and noted that Canada is seeking to diversify its economic partnerships, which could lead to stronger bilateral cooperation.
The visit comes at a time when diplomatic tensions between the two nations have gradually begun to ease, and both sides are looking at areas of strategic and economic collaboration going forward.
