Capital Police have apprehended a juvenile and produced him before the Juvenile Justice Board following a violent sword attack on a bedsheet shopkeeper near the Old Bus Stand in Unit-II.
The incident occurred when the minor and an associate arrived on a scooter at the shop of complainant Sk Imran Hosen, demanding goods at heavily discounted prices. An argument ensued with shop staff, during which the minor brandished a concealed sword, spreading panic among nearby shoppers.
Although his associate fled the scene, the minor rode off briefly before returning to strike Hosen from behind, inflicting a severe, bleeding wound to his abdomen. Local shopkeepers gave chase as the attacker fled, but he initially managed to escape.
Following the investigation, police apprehended the minor and seized the sword used in the assault, the scooter, and a mobile phone. Police records revealed that the juvenile is a repeat offender with eight previous criminal cases registered against him at Capital Police Station.
Further investigation into the incident is underrway.
