Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu to assess the situation following an Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad, with 242 people on board.

According to the minister’s office, Naidu is en route to Ahmedabad to oversee rescue and relief operations.

“The Prime Minister has directed the Minister to ensure that all necessary support is provided immediately and has requested regular updates on the situation. All relevant agencies are on high alert, and coordinated efforts are underway,” stated Naidu’s office.

Flight operations at the airport have been temporarily suspended following the crash.

Early reports indicate that the crash occurred as the aircraft was taking off. The extent of casualties has not yet been confirmed, but emergency services are currently at the scene.
