World No. 1 Jannik Sinner continued his relentless pursuit of a maiden Roland Garros title, securing a commanding 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 victory over Alexander Bublik in the quarter-finals of the 2025 French Open.

The Italian star, who has been in scintillating form throughout the clay-court season, showcased his aggressive baseline play and mental fortitude on Court Philippe-Chatrier, much to the delight of a packed Parisian crowd.

Sinner, the top seed at this year’s Roland Garros, wasted no time asserting his dominance. He raced through the first set 6-1 in just 29 minutes, breaking Bublik’s serve twice with a combination of precise groundstrokes and relentless pressure. The Kazakhstani player, known for his unpredictable style, struggled to find rhythm against Sinner’s disciplined approach, committing a flurry of unforced errors.

The second set proved to be a closer contest, with Bublik finding some footing and pushing Sinner to a 7-5 finish. However, the Italian’s mental resilience shone through as he saved break points and capitalised on a crucial opportunity to seal the set. From there, it was one-way traffic. Sinner elevated his game to another level in the third set, delivering a bagel (6-0) to close out the match in just over two hours. The 6-1, 7-5, 6-0 scoreline underscored Sinner’s growing mastery on clay, a surface where he has yet to claim a Grand Slam title despite his three major victories, including the 2025 Australian Open.

“Every match here is tough, but I’m happy with how I handled the pressure today,” Sinner said in his on-court interview, as reported by the ATP Tour. “Bublik can be tricky with his game style, but I stayed focused and played my best tennis when it mattered.”

The victory marks Sinner’s second consecutive semi-final appearance at Roland Garros. Last year, he fell to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling five-set match, a defeat that has evidently fueled his determination to go one step further this time around. With this win, Sinner improves his 2025 clay-court record to an impressive 18-1, a testament to his growth on the surface.

Sinner’s semi-final berth sets up a potential blockbuster final against defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, who also advanced to the semi-finals with a commanding 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 victory over American Tommy Paul on June 3. Alcaraz, the No. 2 seed, has been in equally devastating form, losing just five games in his quarter-final match and becoming the first defending champion to reach the semi-finals since Rafael Nadal in 2021. The Spaniard’s 32-2 record on clay since last May, including ATP Masters 1000 titles in Monte-Carlo and Rome this year, makes him a formidable opponent.
