India’s active COVID-19 cases have risen to 3,961 as of Monday, June 2, with Kerala and Maharashtra contributing the highest numbers, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

India reported a single-day rise of 363 cases between June 1 and 2, with an almost equal number of recoveries, maintaining a relatively stable active case count.
The cumulative death toll due to COVID-19 now stands at 32, according to official data.
Health experts have flagged the emergence of two new variants — NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 — which are being closely monitored for transmissibility and severity. These variants have been associated with the recent 1,200% surge in weekly cases, raising concerns about a potential new wave.
