Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) continued their dominance over Gujarat Titans (GT) this season, securing a convincing 33-run victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in Match 64 of the TATA IPL 2025.

Led by Mitchell Marsh’s explosive maiden IPL century, LSG set a commanding total of 235/2, leaving GT with an uphill battle that ultimately ended at 202/9.

Opting to bat first, LSG’s batting lineup put on a spectacle as Mitchell Marsh hammered 117 off 64 deliveries, featuring 10 fours and 8 sixes. He found strong support from Aiden Markram (36 off 24 balls) and Nicholas Pooran (56 off 27)*, propelling LSG to a daunting target.

GT’s bowling unit struggled to contain LSG’s aggressive approach, with key bowlers failing to make significant breakthroughs. Rashid Khan, GT’s ace spinner, went wicketless and conceded runs freely, contributing to LSG’s batting dominance.

GT’s chase began on a promising note, led by skipper Shubman Gill and seasoned star Jos Buttler. However, wickets started tumbling, leaving the burden of the chase on M Shahrukh Khan, who played a valiant 57 off 29 balls, including four sixes.

Unfortunately for GT, their batting collapse in the final four overs sealed their fate, as six wickets fell for just 20 runs. The LSG bowling attack, spearheaded by Will O’Rourke (3/27), alongside Avesh Khan and Ayush Badoni (2 wickets each), ensured GT fell short of the target.

With this victory, LSG became one of the few teams to defeat GT twice in a single season, a remarkable achievement against the defending table-toppers. Their comprehensive performance has boosted their position in the IPL standings, sending a strong message to other contenders.

GT, despite an otherwise strong campaign, will need to reassess their approach in crucial chases as they head into the playoffs. Meanwhile, LSG will be brimming with confidence as the tournament intensifies.
