Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister, Pravati Parida, has reaffirmed her commitment to fostering sustainable development for women in the state, emphasising policies that promote economic independence, education, and environmental responsibility.

At a recent state-level policy meeting, Parida outlined her vision for integrating sustainability into Odisha’s development framework, ensuring that women benefit from green initiatives, entrepreneurship programs, and skill-building workshops. She stressed that a strong, self-reliant female workforce is crucial for Odisha’s growth and prosperity.

Speaking to stakeholders, Parida stated, “Women’s empowerment cannot be separated from sustainability. When women are given the right tools and opportunities, they contribute significantly to their communities, creating long-term social and economic impact.”

Her government has proposed several new initiatives, including a rural green entrepreneurship scheme and financial aid for women-led businesses adopting eco-friendly practices. Additionally, the administration is focusing on enhancing digital literacy among women to boost their participation in the modern workforce.

Community leaders and activists have welcomed the move, acknowledging that sustainable development policies tailored for women can significantly improve living standards across Odisha. Experts believe that investing in women’s education and leadership in sustainability will pave the way for a more equitable society.

As Odisha continues its journey toward holistic growth, Parida’s initiatives are expected to shape policies that prioritize both gender equality and environmental stewardship. Her administration aims to roll out further programs that address climate resilience, job creation, and financial inclusion—ensuring that women remain at the forefront of Odisha’s progress.
