In connection with the arrest of YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra by Haryana Police on charges of spying for Pakistan, the Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinit Agrawal confirmed on Sunday that local authorities have begun verification procedures and are actively cooperating with investigating agencies.
“After getting information about this incident, our verification is going on in this regard. After the verification is complete, we will put forward all the facts,” said SP Agrawal.
The case, which has already stirred national concern due to Jyoti’s alleged links with Pakistan’s intelligence operatives and suspicious travels, is now being probed at multiple levels. The SP further stated that coordination is ongoing with several agencies.
“We are in touch with different agencies of different states, the central agency, Haryana Police, and we will provide whatever information they need from us,” he added.
The Odisha Police’s role is primarily to support inter-state investigation efforts and verify Jyoti’s local connections, if any, in Puri or nearby regions. Sources indicate the agencies are exploring whether any digital or financial trail links her to operatives or activities in Odisha.
Jyoti, a social media influencer, was arrested in Hisar, Haryana, for allegedly maintaining close contact with Pakistani nationals, taking sponsored trips to Pakistan, and possibly being developed as an espionage asset. Her associations with other YouTubers and links to a Pakistani official who had earlier faced espionage charges have also come under the scanner.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further revelations are expected as state and central agencies collaborate across jurisdictions to unravel the full extent of the network.
YouTuber Priyanka Senapati, an Odisha-based vlogger, is being probed for links to the case of Jyoti Malhotra, creator who has been arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan.
Senapati visited Pakistan’s Kartarpur three to four months ago. She was also friends with Jyoti. Following her fellow’s arrest, Senapati had said that she was not aware of Jyoti’s links to Pakistan and assured full cooperation in the investigation.
“Jyoti was just a friend of mine, and I came in contact with her through YouTube. I was unaware of anything which she is accused of. I would not have been in touch with her if I knew she was spying for enemy Pakistan,” she wrote on Instagram.
“If any investigative agency wishes to cross-question, I would provide full cooperation. Nation is above all. Jai Hind,” she added.
