Mahua Moitra, Member of Parliament from Krishnanagar, has filed a formal complaint with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) alleging harassment by a group of passengers onboard an IndiGo flight travelling to Delhi.

According to the Trinamool Congress leader, the incident occurred on IndiGo flight 6E 719 while she was travelling to attend a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on defence.

Mahua Moitra Claims Passengers Raised Political Slogans

In posts shared on social media platform X, Mahua Moitra alleged that after the aircraft landed, and before passengers were allowed to disembark, a group of men shouted political slogans targeting her and the Trinamool Congress leadership.

According to Moitra, the passengers repeatedly chanted slogans including “Chor chor, TMC chor” along with remarks directed at Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee.

She also claimed that “Jai Shri Ram” slogans were raised during the incident while several individuals recorded videos on their mobile phones.

TMC MP Says Incident Affected Her Safety

Mahua Moitra described the episode as harassment and said the incident created concerns regarding her personal safety inside the aircraft.

The TMC MP stated that the behaviour of the passengers went beyond public criticism and amounted to intimidation inside a commercial flight.

She further alleged that the incident appeared coordinated and was intended for circulation on social media platforms.

Complaint Seeks Action Against Airline and Crew

In her complaint submitted to the DGCA, Mahua Moitra alleged that the passengers engaged in continuous political sloganeering, verbal abuse, and filming without consent.

She also accused the IndiGo cabin crew of remaining passive during the situation and failing to intervene or seek assistance.

The MP urged the aviation regulator to direct the airline to initiate action regarding the alleged unruly behaviour and sought the formation of an internal committee to examine the incident.

She additionally demanded a show-cause notice against the airline and crew members operating the flight, alleging failure to discharge their responsibilities during the episode.

IndiGo Yet to Issue Official Response

As of now, IndiGo has not released an official statement regarding the allegations made by Mahua Moitra.

The incident has triggered political reactions online, with supporters and critics debating passenger conduct, political expression, and safety protocols aboard commercial flights.
