In a major success for counterterror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Nader Tral area of Pulwama district on Thursday morning.
According to police sources, the slain militants are believed to be affiliated with the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit. However, official identification is still pending, and the Kashmir Police have not yet released names.
The encounter began during a joint cordon and search operation launched by the police and security forces in the Awantipora region of South Kashmir, following specific intelligence inputs about terrorist presence.
“Encounter has started at Nader, Tral area of Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir Police posted on their official handle on X (formerly Twitter).
The operation is part of intensified anti-terror efforts following the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which left 26 people dead and prompted Operation Sindoor, India’s recent cross-border military action targeting terrorist infrastructure.
